The "laws of beauty" in Economic and Philosophic Manuscripts of 1844 constitutes the core principle of Marxist aesthetics.The key to understanding it lies in grasping the meanings of the two "standards". The "standard of the species" refers to the technical dimension in which humans can imitate the instincts of various organisms through cultural capabilities, while the "inherent standard" refers to the purposive aspect of human intention. Conscious, technical labour is the real process through which humans acquire the "universal" capacity transcending all other beings,enabling labourers to become a species-being and gaining the spiritual experience of "beauty" as their purposes are realized. Estranged labour stands as the antithesis of the "laws of beauty", only the realization of communism can bring the experience of beautiful labour.
