Controller

The controller of personal data processed through this website and the journal's editorial office is Sigma Horizons s.r.o., Varšavská 715/36, Vinohrady, 120 00 Prague 2, Czech Republic (e-mail: a@sigma-horizon.xyz). This policy is issued under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679, "GDPR") and applicable Czech law.

What we process and why

• Submissions and correspondence: when you email a manuscript or contact the editorial office, we process your name, e-mail address, affiliation, the content of your message and the manuscript, in order to handle your submission, organise peer review and communicate with you (legal basis: steps at your request and performance of a contract, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). Reviewers' names and contact details are processed to manage the review process (legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f)).
• Published articles: authors' names, affiliations and, where provided in the article, contact details are published as part of the scholarly record (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f)).
• Website operation and security: our web server records technical data such as IP address, date and time, requested page and browser type in server logs, to deliver the website and protect it against abuse (legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f)). These logs are deleted automatically, normally within 14 days.
• AI Scholar: the questions you type into the AI Scholar assistant are sent to an AI inference provider to generate the answer. We do not store the text of your questions; our server only records technical information such as time and response status. Please do not enter personal or confidential information into the assistant.
• Subscription requests: if you email us to receive notifications about new issues, we use your e-mail address only for that purpose until you ask us to stop (consent, Art. 6(1)(a)).

Cookies and tracking

This website does not use analytics, advertising or social-media tracking cookies. Your browser may store small technical data locally (for example, the list of articles already loaded) to make pages work; this data never leaves your device.

Recipients and processors

We use carefully selected service providers acting on our behalf: a web hosting provider (servers located in the European Union), a cloud storage provider for the journal's files, an e-mail service provider, and an AI inference provider for the AI Scholar. Some of these providers may process data outside the European Economic Area; in that case the transfer takes place on the basis of the safeguards provided by the GDPR, such as an adequacy decision or Standard Contractual Clauses. We do not sell personal data.

Retention

Correspondence and records of submissions are kept for as long as needed to handle the submission and for up to five years afterwards to document the editorial process and handle possible disputes or ethical enquiries. Published articles are kept permanently as part of the scholarly record.

Your rights

You have the right to request access to your personal data, its rectification or erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and to object to processing based on legitimate interest. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time. Requests can be sent to a@sigma-horizon.xyz. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Czech supervisory authority, the Office for Personal Data Protection (Úřad pro ochranu osobních údajů, Pplk. Sochora 27, 170 00 Prague 7, www.uoou.cz).
